- The opening sequence of our film is similar to that of the opening sequence for the film 'Se7en' as it will contain teasers to the narrative of the film, for example bleeding books. This teases to the idea of a book and how all the deaths within the rest of the film, link back to one man reading the book.
- Beyond the opening sequence the film begins where the male protagonist is shown living his everyday life. For example, on his laptop doing work/research.
- The man is depressed so goes to his hideaway place where he can truly feel at ease. For Example an abandoned cabin in the woods.
- He finds an old book a reads it. (similar to the film 'The Ring' with the video tape).
- The whole book is short and all about different ways people die, going from least painful/horrific to the worst.
- He is then present at several deaths unintentionally and realises they are the same as in the book he read.
- He begins researching into whether this had happened before.
- He discovers that it had happened before but only once. This was to a young girl, who wrote the book (the girl in the opening sequence).
- He Tries destroying the book, but at this time is distracted by the presence of death and realises that the deaths that are occurring, are getting closer to home and begging to effect his family. For example his brother/sister being killed in a tragic accident. and he knows it only a matter of time before it reaches his parents and then himself, so destroys the book in a fire.
- He is then haunted as the whether destroying the book is enough to save his family, and how long for.
This description of our film narrative will help us to create our film opening as it allows us to see how everything links together and using certain objects and occurrences allows us to foreshadow events in the film within the opening 2 minutes.
